“The staff really make sure that we're taken care of, that we are safe, and will help you through anything,” Auhnika said. “I know this place really has changed me for the better.”
Auhnika graduated from Pike County High School! After graduation Auhnika plans to attend Grand Canyon University online to pursue a degree in early childhood education to one day be a Kindergarten teacher.
“Ever since I was 14 I loved working with little kids,” Auhnika said. “My grandmother would take me to church and I would help out in the nursery and I enjoyed it so much.”
History is Auhnika’s favorite subject in school because she loves to learn about the past and how she can learn from it.
Besides going to school and working with children, Auhnika enjoys reading, doing puzzles, and listening to music in her free time. She is also a big soccer fan and cheers for Manchester United.
While being at the Children’s Home, Auhnika has grown and matured thanks to some of our campus staff.
“Miss Amanda and Miss Jessica have influenced me a lot,” Auhnika explains. “They showed me how to act better and become more mature. They make sure that I'm doing the right thing and being healthy.”
Auhnika’s time at GBCH&FM has been an opportunity for growth and improvement that has set her up to be the best version of herself and while chasing after her dreams.
“The staff really make sure that we're taken care of, that we are safe, and will help you through anything,” Auhnika said. “I know this place really has changed me for the better.”
